The big worry here remains Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu Building Chief Yolanda Bundy told the City Council Monday night.
At one particular address across the street from Carbon Canyon's fire station, the emergency cliff protection that Caltrans put in has washed out three times since August. Bundy says Caltrans now has four separate emergency director's orders from Sacramento authorizing expensive emergency repairs on PCH here in Malibu.
“They continue to say that they do have four director's orders being utilized to fix the erosion,” Bundy said. “They were monitoring since Friday and the whole weekend. I was in communication with them. Their maintenance group was out there. They currently have four contractors working on the fix.”
West of Malibu, the highway at the Giant Sand Dune continues to wash away. Caltrans headquarters in Sacramento on Monday authorized emergency rock installation work along PCH out there, two and a half miles west of Neptune's Net.
