A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for the beaches of Los Angeles County, including the Malibu coast, through 3 p.m. Sunday.
Significant seawater flooding is likely to damage coastal structures and beach roadways around the time of the morning high tide at 9:52 a.m. Expected coastal flooding impacts Sunday will be worse than what the coast got from Hurricane Marie in early September.
The tide should crest above 8 feet, and 8.5 feet is possible depending on winds. Winds predicted to blow off the ocean at up to 25 mph later Sunday may drive high surf of 5 to 8 feet.
Flooding is also possible in Marina del Rey and Venice, caused by low barometric pressure and a warm ocean.
Flash flooding is occurring in San Diego and Imperial counties and the Coachella Valley. Only light sprinkles are expected here, with rain still possible Sunday night and Monday.
Very hot weather may return Wednesday. Forecasters note “increasing confidence in weak to moderate Santa Ana winds developing on Friday,” with gusts around 40 mph indicated Friday morning at Camarillo.
