DWP water main break shuts most of Sunset Boulevard in Palisades
Three of four lanes are closed between Allenford and Mandeville Canyon as DWP asks Palisades customers to conserve water.

A major water leak is causing problems for drivers and residents in Pacific Palisades. A City of LA Department of Water and Power water main serving the west side broke Saturday evening.
Three of the four traffic lanes on Sunset Boulevard are closed between Brentwood and Pacific Palisades — between Allenford Avenue and Mandeville Canyon Road. Both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Sunset were closed Sunday. Not sure what the status is Monday morning.
DWP says their water customers continue to have safe drinking water, but they're strongly requesting immediate water conservation in the Palisades to maintain system pressure. The City of LA says they are relying on a temporary plastic pipe installed last year that brings water over the mountains from the Valley to Pacific Palisades, while the Santa Ynez Reservoir was under continuous repairs. That reservoir was in the process of being refilled when the pipe broke under Sunset. DWP says all of its water tanks serving Pacific Palisades are currently full, but Sunset is a mess at Allenford, which is the street that continues south in Santa Monica as 26th Street.
Meanwhile, a second water main broke in Pacific Palisades Saturday evening. Water poured down the residential streets in the Alphabet Streets neighborhood. 26 houses were without service Sunday.
Once again, avoid Sunset Boulevard at Allenford between the Palisades and Brentwood.
