Grossman hit with $21 million more in punitive damages

Jury adds punitive penalties on top of $176 million already awarded for the 2020 crosswalk deaths of two Iskander brothers.

By Hans Laetz

Rebecca Grossman has been penalized another $21 million for killing two little boys on a crosswalk over the hill six years ago.

The penalty phase of the trial wrapped up in Van Nuys yesterday — $21 million against Rebecca Grossman, and $1.17 million against Scott Ericson.

The penalties were stacked on top of the $176 million in actual damages. That money is compensation for the loss of the two Iskander brothers, awarded by the same jury last week.

Mark and Jacob Iskander were run over and killed by the two drivers, one next to the other, in a crosswalk in Westlake Village in 2020.

The $1.17 million penalty against Ericson is the first real penalty issued against him for his role in the deaths. His car did not hit the boys, but he was racing Grossman when her car mowed them down.

The awarding of punitive damages raises the total judgment against Grossman and Ericson to just below $200 million.

It's not clear how much of that will be paid for by Dr. Peter Grossman, the world-famous burn surgeon. That's between him and his wife and his lawyers, who are trying to shield their millions from the survivors of the two little boys.
