Mountain lion spotted again on Pepperdine campus
Public safety staff saw the cat near Huntsinger Circle at about 2 a.m. Tuesday before it headed up the hill toward the Graduate Campus.
A mountain lion has been spotted on the Pepperdine University campus. Again.
Public safety department staff spotted a mountain lion at about 2 a.m. yesterday near the Facilities Services Pad on Huntsinger Circle. The lion headed into the brush and then up the hill toward the Graduate Campus at the top of the school.
The animal is not believed to represent a threat to the campus community. But the university is warning people to take their standard steps:
Do not hike, bike, or jog alone, especially from dusk until dawn when mountain lions are most active.
Do not feed the deer, which attract mountain lions looking for dinner.
Respect the animal. Maintain eye contact and move away slowly. Do NOT run. Running may trigger the mountain lion's instinct to chase you.
And in the unlikely event of an attack, fight back. Do not fall to the ground or roll into the fetal position.
