PCH in danger of washing out at Ventura County sand dune

PCH appears to be in severe danger of washing out at the giant sand dune two and a half miles into Ventura County. This is west of Neptune's Net and east of Mugu Rock.

Sunday's high tide took out more sand directly beneath the eastbound travel lane. Traffic is being shoved over up against the giant sand dune.

Again Monday morning, more erosion. The roadway's sand foundation is exposed directly to high tide surf.

Eastbound traffic has been moved into the westbound lane, and westbound traffic is now on the shoulder, where people usually walk to go play in the sand dune. We did see people walking in traffic to go play in the sand dune Sunday.

We have photos of all this damage posted to the KBUU news site, malibu.fm.
