Rebecca Grossman and surgeon husband file for divorce

Victims' mother calls the split a maneuver to escape nearly $200 million in court-ordered damages for killing two boys in a crosswalk.

By Hans Laetz

Yet another twist in the case of the woman convicted of murdering two little boys in a crosswalk — onetime Malibu-area socialite Rebecca Grossman.

The prison inmate and her husband, surgeon Peter Grossman, have filed for divorce.

Both are jointly responsible for paying almost $200 million in damages to the survivors of the two little boys — Jacob Iskander, age 8, and Mark Iskander, age 11.

The boys' mother, Nancy Iskander, calls the divorce nothing more than a maneuver by the doctor to try to escape paying the court-ordered damages.

Rebecca Grossman and her boyfriend, Scott Erickson, were racing up Lindero Canyon Road at double the speed limit when they encountered the Iskander family in a crosswalk. Testimony showed that Dr. Peter Grossman was well aware of his wife's frequent speeding and habitual drinking and driving.

She is serving a 15-years-to-life sentence at the state prison for women in Chino.
