Santa Monica Seeks Permits for Giant Electronic Signs
The cash-strapped city wants Coastal Commission approval for six Las Vegas-style digital billboards near the Third Street Promenade.

Also on that Coastal Commission agenda are permits requested by the City of Santa Monica to install gigantic electronic advertisements on several buildings between the Pier and the Promenade.
The cash-strapped city has plans to make big bucks by turning its downtown area into a Las Vegas-style tourist attraction.
Six of these giant electronic signs would be installed near the Third Street Promenade, as far west as Second Street and within sight of the ocean.
Again, the Coastal Commission will take that up April 15th.
