Strong Santa Ana winds expected through the weekend

Gusts of 45 to 55 mph forecast for the western Santa Monica Mountains, with warmer temperatures on coasts and valleys.

Tonight will be all about the winds.

Advisory-level wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph will develop in the mountains north of us tonight. Tomorrow morning, the winds will spread into the western Santa Monica Mountains.

Gusts of 45 to 55 mph are likely in the area generally west of Malibu Canyon, somewhat less strong in the eastern mountains. There is a 40 percent chance that winds of 60 miles an hour will hit some upper elevations and canyons.

It will be 8 to 12 degrees warmer on the coasts and in the valleys. Saturday will be similar to Friday.
