Two storms to bring weekend rain to Malibu
A Friday system and a stronger, colder Sunday storm could deliver more than a half inch of rain — possibly more if thunderstorms develop.
Two winter storms are headed toward Malibu — one Friday, one Sunday. Between them, more than a half inch of rain is expected.
But Malibu could get a lot more than that if the second storm packs a thunderstorm within it. Spotty rainstorms are forecast with both fronts.
Rain is expected by Friday. A second, colder and even stronger system moves in Sunday night into Monday morning.
It won't be raining everywhere all weekend. In fact, the National Weather Service is calling for lengthy periods of sunshine, then quick escalation to brief heavy rain and possible thunderstorms.
There is a lot of energy in this second storm, with periods of very heavy rain possible. That's Sunday.
Exact timing and rain amounts are still too far away to nail down.
