Westward Beach rock revetment update heads to City Council
The council will hear Monday night how emergency rocks are holding up as surf threatens pavement and fire hydrants near Sunset Restaurant.

An update on the emergency beach repairs at Westward Beach Road will be on the agenda at Monday night's City Council meeting.
The City Council approved going into a deal with LA County Beaches and Harbors to extend the rock revetment to the northwest toward Zuma Beach. This is in front of the Sunset Restaurant, where city infrastructure including the pavement and fire hydrants are endangered by the surf.
The rocks we observed Sunday seem to be holding, but they're not nearly long enough. As we said, several hundred feet of sand exist to the northwest where the road is in danger of collapsing — not immediately, but at some time soon.
