The race for insurance commissioner, with a Malibu-area resident on it, is a statewide race and is too close to call right now.
Longtime Malibu State Senator Ben Allen, a former Santa Monica-Malibu School Board member, is behind in his bid to become the elected insurance commissioner for the state.
The candidate from the Bay Area, Jane Kim, who is viewed as a bit more left-wing than Allen, is at 52% of the vote with 6.6 million votes cast. Both are Democrats.
