Residents can identify their evacuation zone, learn how decisions are made, and weigh in on the city's draft Mass Evacuation Plan.

The City of Malibu is going to host a public workshop for Malibu people to learn how evacuations work in Malibu and how to be better prepared.

It comes after we told you yesterday that the state is holding a daylong public meeting on April 23 about Zone Zero — the controversial new state law that requires all landscaping to be trimmed back 5 feet away from any structure.

The Malibu workshop is set for Tuesday, April 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Malibu City Hall Council Chamber, 23825 Stuart Ranch Road.

At the workshop, attendees will:

  • Identify their evacuation zone
  • Learn how evacuation decisions are made
  • Understand what to expect during an evacuation
  • Provide feedback on the City's draft Mass Evacuation Plan
