Malibu Wrote Thousands of Parking Tickets in February
Sheriff's deputies issued 4,023 parking tickets last month; city officers wrote 2,725 more, most for license plate violations.
The sheriff's department issued 4,023 parking tickets in February. City parking enforcement officers wrote 2,725 tickets in the same month.
58 percent of those city parking tickets were for license plate problems. 1,261 of those — 46 percent — were for no front license plate. Expired tags accounted for almost 12 percent.
These totals do not include parking tickets issued by the city's Volunteers On Patrol.
Sheriff's deputies report 16 traffic crashes in Malibu in February. There were people injured in half of those. One pedestrian was hit in a crash. One bicyclist was hit in a crash.
CHP officers patrolling Malibu wrote 120 speeding tickets in February. Sheriff's deputies handed out 487 tickets in Malibu in February for hazardous driving.
